I thought this had gotten fixed in the code, but again the tool does not create any outputs when a single barrier is chosen

The problem was not limited to the single barrier case. There was a bug in the case when the adaptive grid does not find any nodes to add. I believe all cases have now been fixed.

Ver. 1.1.3(already released) has all the changes. Changes to the tool page will be visible after the next update.
