Does DDA method useful for the study of optical properties of semiconductor nanoparticle like zinc oxide embedded in dielectric polymer like PVP?

    DDA solves for the electrodynamic interaction of a structure with light. The response of the structure is encoded through its complex dielectric function (either measured by ellipsometry or obtained from electronic structure calculations). As long as you have a reasonable size-corrected dielectric function for ZnO nanoparticles, you can run a simulation and obtain the optical properties. The polymer can be treated much more simply as a dielectric with a constant refractive index, at least in the visible/NIR region. Best wishes,
