A new scientific field for creating engineered, living, multi-cellular ‘machines’ to solve real problems in health, security, and the environment.
The primary goal of the 2017 Summer School on Engineered Living Systems (ELS) is to build the scienti c/engineering base and probe the ethical implications that arise from these complex biological interactions, their resultant emergent behaviors, and the ultimate creation of complex biological systems engineered to perform speci c, targeted functions.
