Electrostatic Desalting of Droplets for Biochemical Applications
01 Aug 2016 | Downloads | Contributor(s): Piyush Dak, Muhammad A. Alam
The MATLAB code determines the desalted ionic concentration when a droplet with a particular size and contact angle is placed on a pair of electrodes with a particular desalting bias. Droplet desalting can be useful for a number of applications, such as, overcoming screening limited response of charge-based potentiometric sensors, bias mediated DNA denaturation for iso-thermal PCR amplification, and configurable isoelectric protein focusing.
Hydrogel based Biochemical Sensors
08 Jul 2016 | Downloads | Contributor(s): Piyush Dak, Muhammad A. Alam
This is MATLAB code for a Hydrogel based biochemical sensor: The sensor is composed of a hydrogel sandwiched between a rigid porous membrane and a deformable membrane. The hydrogel is pendent with the ionizable groups (with density, Nf and acid dissociation constant, Ka) which are responsive to analyte (say, proton) molecules. As the analyte concentration changes, the pressure exerted by hydrogel on deformable membrane changes. The analytical code...

Too hot to handle? The emerging challenge of reliability/variability in self-heated FintFET, ETSOI, and GAA-FET
11 Jan 2016 | Presentation Materials | Contributor(s): Muhammad A. Alam, Sang Hoon Shin, Muhammad Abdul Wahab, Jiangjiang Gu, Jingyun Zhang, Peide "Peter" Ye
This presentation is part of the 8th IEEE/ACM Workshop on Variability Modeling and Characterization (VMC) 2015. It is difficult to control the geometry, doping, and thicknesses of small transistors. Moreover, nanoscale transistors degrade due to NBTI and HCI at vastly different rates. Fortunately, designers have learned to live with these static and dynamic variabilities and produce extraordinarily fast and power-efficient ICs despite these variations. The job unfortunately is...
