| Biography |
Nicholas Xuanlai Fang is an assistant professor of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Fang’s research highlight includes first demonstration of optical superlensing (listed by SCI as a fast breaking paper of physics in April 2006), invention of far IR magnetic/plasmonic metamaterials, and invention of solid state electrochemical nanoimprint technology that offers sub-20nm resolution. He is also interested in energy and mass transport phenomena in micro- and nanoscale systems. Dr Fang is recipient of several international awards and recognition, including NSF CAREER award (2009), Technology Review magazine’s top young innovators of year 2008, and ASME Tau-Pi-Sigma Gold Medal (2006). |
