Alexander Kildishev, Associate Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering
Alexander Kildishev obtained his Ph.D. and M.S. in EE from the Kharkov State Polytechnic University, Ukraine (1996-1984).
At Purdue Dr. Kildishev has been leading the development of simulation strategies, methods, and software tools for applied electromagnetics and multiphysics simulations in the area of nanoplasmonic devices and optical metamaterials, MRI safety, and magnetic silencing. Before joining Purdue, he was working as the Head of Laboratory at the Magnetism Division of the National Academy of Sciences in the Ukraine. Currently, his research interests are in the simulation of nanophotonics devices, including modeling of quantum emitters on optical metasurfaces, spasers, 2D materials, and transformation optics.
Dr. Kildishev is a Co-Chair of the OSA Technical Group “Optics for Energy” and an advisor of the OSA Purdue University Student Chapter. He is also a member of the Technical Committee SPIE Active Photonic Materials IV Conference. Dr. Kildishev’s publications include (current h-factor: 41 Web of Science, 44 Google scholar) 6 book chapters, more than 120 publications in peer reviewed journals, with above 6000 citations; more than 90 invited seminar talks and conferences presentations, 11 issued and pending patents (5 US patents), 9 software online simulation tools (with above 1,600 users and 37,000 jobs) staged at nanoHUB.org.
Dr. Kildishev’s research directions in the area of fields and optics (FO) include computational nanophotonics and nanoscale multiphysics, metasurfaces and metamaterials, 2D and refractory plasmonics, transformation optics, nanolasers and spasers, thermophotovoltaics, and super-resolution imaging techniques and devices.
