BiographyNaheed Ferdous is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, working with Professor Harley T. Johnson on 2D materials. She received her PhD in Mechanical Science and Engineering Department in 2019 at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, advised by Professor Elif Ertekin. She obtained her BSc (2009) and MSc (2011) in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She was a lecturer in Military Institute of Science and Technology, Dhaka (2010) and Primeasia University, Dhaka (2009-2010). Her research includes the diverse areas of materials science, solid state physics, semiconductor properties and nano-technology. She has published five journal papers and two conference papers. Her work involves experimental and theoretical collaboration with Materials, Chemical and Biomolecular Departments at University of Illinois, National Labs in USA and Australian National University. Her current research focuses on characterization and examination of optoelectronics properties of doped semiconductors for solar energy conversion systems using atomic scale simulation. She is a professional member of American Physical Society (APS) , American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Material Research Society (MRS), nanoHUB and society of women engineers (SWE).
