• Biography

  Leslie Hammersmith is the eLearning Analyst in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has over 14 years of experience in higher education and faculty development in educational technologies. Leslie is trained in Cancer Research Advocacy and is a Patient Advocate with Carle Cancer Center, where she reviews cancer research protocols. In 2009 Leslie was one of the founders of the Champaign-Urbana Affiliate of Young Survival Coalition, the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Under her leadership, YSC C-U has grown to a recognized community organization to support young women facing breast cancer in Central Illinois. Leslie has participated in programs from Reasearch Advocacy Network and AACR Scientist Survivor Program, and continues to pursue professional development in advocacy.
