Gabriela C. Weaver was born in Chile and moved to the United States in 1970. She received all of her formal schooling in this country. Her B.S. in Chemistry was awarded from the California Institute of Technology in 1989 and her Ph.D. in Chemical Physics in 1994 from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She served as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Colorado at Denver from 1994 to 2001 and as Associate Professor at Purdue University since 2001. Her research is in the area of Chemical Education, specializing in the development and assessment of instructional technologies and research-authentic methods for teaching. She has been an invited speaker at over 25 national and international meetings, including the 2001 Gordon Conference on Chemical Education Research and the DVD Summit in Dublin, Ireland. She is currently Director of the Center for Authentic Science Practice in Education.
