This presentation is an overview of the Network for Computational Nanotechnology (NCN) presented at the first NCN Student Conference in April 2005. It is intended to give students an understanding of the NCN's vision and mission. At the same time, the talk also presents a broad overview of the NCN's research in nanoelectronics, NEMS and nanofluidics, and nano-bio devices. NCN initiatives in education, outreach, and software development are also described. The NCN is an initiative designed to promote science, foster collaboration, and build an infrastructure to serves the nation's National Nanotechnology Initiative. It is an opportunity for students to become engaged in an ambitious effort that will change nanotechnology and computational science and engineering.
