This lecture will review the phenomenology and theoretical approaches associated with the study of electrical current fluctuations. The relevance of electronic correlations in devices, based e.g on oxides, will be discussed. Differences between the bulk and nanoscale in terms of electrical transport physics and the consequent special theoretical treatment of fluctuations at the nanoscale will be given special emphasis.
