  1. Enhancing your Micro and Nano Technology Courses with Free nanoHUB Resources and Simulations

    12 May 2015 | | Contributor(s):: Tanya Faltens

    This presentation given at a workshop in the 2014 MNT (Micro Nano Technology) Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, provides an overview of nanoHUB resources that will be useful for MNT Educators.  The Education Page, nanoHUB-U, Group Functionalities, collections, Learning Communities,...

  2. Evolution of microstructure and magnetic properties in magnetron-sputtered CoCr thin films

    02 Feb 2012 | | Contributor(s):: Brian Demczyk

    In this work, transmission electron microscopy, including the Lorentz mode is combined with magnetic measurements (vibrating sample magnetometry and ferromagnetic resonance)to draw correlations between the structural and magnetic constituents in cobalt-chromium films of increasing thickness.

  3. Experience Microfabricating Biosensors: A Summer Research Opportunity

    17 Jun 2022 | | Contributor(s):: Adarsh Radadia, The Micro Nano Technology - Education Center

  4. Exploring Factors Effecting Deposition, Morphology, and Thickness of Thin Metallic Layer of Copper

    08 Jan 2020 | | Contributor(s):: Berkil Alexander, NNCI Nano

    Students will create thin layers of copper and nickel in an electrochemical reaction to understand how an electric current passed through an ionic solution will result in a chemical reaction which will separate materials.

  9. Functional Graded Materials architectures applied at nanoscale: thin PVD nanograded and layered coatings

    09 Oct 2008 | | Contributor(s):: Vasco Teixeira

    Functionally graded materials (FGM’s) are designed to achieve levels of performance superior to that of homogeneous materials by combining the desirable properties of each constituent phase. FGM’s are composite materials where the composition or the microstructure is locally varied so that a...

  12. Growth of Cu films on hydrogen terminated Si(lQ0) and Si(lll) surf&es

    07 Oct 2011 | | Contributor(s):: Brian Demczyk, R. Naik, G. Auner, C. Kota, U. Rao

    We have employed reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and high resolutiontransmission electron microscopy (HREM) to study Cu films grown on hydrogen terminatedSi( 100) and Si( 111) substrates by molecular beam epitaxy.

  13. In-liquid Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonators for Biosensing Applications

    27 May 2020 | | Contributor(s):: Girish Rughoobur

    Gravimetric sensors based on thin-film bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonators operating between 1-5 GHz have tremendous potential as biosensors because they are inexpensive, label-free, fast and highly sensitive. The two main challenges in this objective are: the conventional longitudinal mode...

  14. Interface structure and surface morphology of (Co, Fe, Ni)/Cu/Si(100) thin films

    07 Oct 2011 | | Contributor(s):: Brian Demczyk, V.M. Naik, A. Lukaszew, R. Naik, G. W. Auner

    We have examined bilayer Co/Cu, Fe/Cu, and Ni/Cu films deposited by molecular-beam epitaxy onhydrogen-terminated @100# silicon substrates.

  15. Interferencia de Capas Finas (Thin Films)

    24 Apr 2020 | | Contributor(s):: Nano-Link Center for Nanotechnology Education, Deb Newberry, Christopher Kumm, Jim Marti (editor), Rodfal A. Rodríguez (editor), María T. Rivera (editor)

    En este módulo, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre las propiedades ópticas de las capas finas. Realizarán un experimento en el que aplicarán una capa fina sobre un pedazo de papel de cartulina o de construcción. De esta forma podrán observar...
