NCN’s Electronics from the Bottom Up - an innovative educational initiative cosponsored by Intel, NCN, and Purdue University – introduces students to new ways of thinking about electronic devices. New concepts and approaches, emerging from current research on nanoscience, are applied to non-equilibrium problems like nanoscale transistors, energy conversion devices and bio-sensors. The 2011 Summer School will feature lectures by Prof. Mark Lundstrom on the topic: “Near Equilibrium Transport” and lectures by Profs. Ashraf Alam and Mark Lundstrom on "Solar Cell Fundamentals." Additional tutorials on selected topics in nanotechnology will be presented by Purdue Faculty, Profs. Timothy S. Fisher, Alejandro Strachan, and Supriyo Datta.

Our selected topics in nanotechnology will include transport across interfaces, introduction to molecular dynamics, introduction to ab initio simulation, and spin transport and topological insulators.
