Introduction to nanometer-scale science and technology
By Mark Hersam. This seminar will provide an introductory overview for non-experts of the emerging field of nanometer scale science and technology. The following topics will be emphasized: (1) Historical background and motivation for the study of nanometer scale phenomena; (2) Strategies for controlling the structure of matter with nanometer scale precision; (3) Size-dependent properties (e.g., electrical, optical, and magnetic) that emerge at the nanometer scale; (4) Real-world applications that utilize nanometer scale devices.

ECE 694A at Purdue University: Professional Development Series
ECE 694, is designed to provide opportunities for professional development, raise awareness of issues that may be faced in a professional career, and provide opportunities to survey research seminars of their interest. Although this series was created for graduate students, many of the topics are relevant to students at other levels. These topics include:
-
Interviewing Skills
-
Resumes: Develop your message, tell your story
-
Resume Writing Strategy

Inside Real Innovation
nanoHUB: Not just for PhDs
Whether a graduating student is entering the workforce as a technician or a research scientist, knowledge of the availability and capabilities computer simulation tools is necessary. In 2004, Dakota County Technical College started a 2 year, AAS degree Nanoscience Technician program. This program has always involved an aspect of computer simulations, both in a specific Computer Simulation class and as a part of several other classes such as the nanoelectronics and materials science classes. This presentation will discuss not only how nanoHUB simulations have been used in this 2 year program but how their use has evolved and expanded over the last decade.
Nano-Link: Never go in with a Blank Sheet of Paper
For the success of any college program a strong partnership between educators and industry personnel needs to exist. Yet many educators have very little experience interfacing with industry or company representatives. This presentation summarizes a proven approach that helps educators find, collect and refine the information that is needed to successfully work with industry and establish strong partnerships. The process and source for collecting employee competencies required by industry is outlined. Also covered is the process for finding the right person within a company to approach as a first step.
