Path Integral Quantum Monte Carlo

Path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) simulates quantum particles by sampling the canonical partition function using Monte Carlo integration. In the path integral formulation of quantum statistical mecahnics particles are represented by closed imaginary-time trajectories of length h-bar/kT. PIMC simulations are able to compute total energies, correlation functions, charge distributions, and linear response functions in thermal equilibrium.
