Biography
Justus Ndukaife holds a BSc degree with First Class Honorsfrom the University of Lagos, Nigeria and MSc from Purdue University, USA, all in Electrical Engineering.
Currently he is a PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University West Lafayette and holds a Research Assistant position at the Water Institute and the Birck Nanotechnology Center. He conducts research at the interface between Nanophotonics and Microfluidics with emphasis on novel Lab-on-a-Chip devices for dynamic control, trapping, positioning and on-chip sensing of nanoscale objects. He is aco-inventor of 4 related technologies with patent pending in the United States. His research works have been published in several high impact factor journals including Science, Nature Nanotechnology, ACS Nano and Nano Letters. He has also presented at several leading conferences including Gordon Research Conference on Plasmonics and Nanophotonics, Gordon Research Conference on Microfluidics, Summer school on Complex Photonics (in Varenna, Italy), Conference on Lasers and Electro-optics CLEO, SPIE Optics and Photonics Conference, and Materials Research Society meetings. During the 2016 Gordon Research Conference on Plasmonics and Nanophotonics, he was selected to deliver the "Late-Breaking Topic", and his presentation was entitled: "Shaping the Future of Plasmon Nano-Optical Tweezing". Among his honors include Purdue College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student Research Award, NSBE Golden Torch Award as the “Graduate Student of the Year”, Best Paper Award at ASME IMECE 2015 conference, membership in Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Golden Key International Honor Society, recipient of NSBE Board of Corporate Affiliates Scholarship, election as co-chair of the 2018 Gordon Research Seminar on Plasmonics and Nanophotonics, election as President of the Optical Society of America at Purdue University Student Chapter and President of the Nanotechnology Student Advisory Council (NSAC) at the Birck Nanotechnology Center. Justus is also a technical reviewer for ACS Photonics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, Nature Scientific Reports, International Journal of Environmental and Analytical Chemistry and ASME heat transfer conference.
