Abstract

Visualized simulation tool of Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) is essential in aeronautical engineering and gas dynamics, by presenting information that can educate engineers and scientists to preliminarily understand the molecular gas dynamics and direct simulation of gas flows. Two educational tools and models are described for dilute gas flows and simulated particle collisions. This tool is the 1-Dimensional DSMC in Planar Couette Flow where the walls are moved in either same or different direction. We can see the velocity profile of the output follows the velocities of the walls and it gets more linear with more particles. The inputs are: - Gas Conditions: Choice of particle (properties are put in the code), number of particles - Flow Conditions: Pressure or Temperature (based on ideal gas law), cell length, and number of cells to be simulated - Numerical (Time) Conditions: Number of Time Steps and Input Time Step (if desired) - Wall Velocities (Left and Right Wall velocities in m/s) The outputs are: - Velocity Profile - Temperature Profile - Density Profile - DSMC Speed Distribution (in number of particles) - Number of Collisions Per Particle and Mean of Collisions - Output Log (explanations regarding sequence, simulated particle, and other outputs such as Kn)
