Abstract

This presentation describes the corrosion process in longitudinal and perpendicular recording media, based upon electron and scanning probe microscopic analysis.

Credits

Magnetic media were synthesized and scanning probe and scanning elctron microscopy were performed at the Maxtor, Inc. San Jose, CA facility (now closed). Transmission electron microscopy was undertaken at the National Center for Electron Microscopy at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA.
