Bio

Gaetano Assanto received his MSc in Electrical Engineering in 1981 and his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1987. Since November 1992, he has been a professor of Optoelectronics with the Department of Electronic Engineering of the University of Rome "Roma Tre". His current interests are in nonlinear effects (parametric, Kerr-like, reorientational, thermo-optic) for all-optical signal processing and light localization, as well as Si-Ge heterostructures and optoelectronics for near-infrared photodetection. Dr. Assanto is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA) and senior member of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (IEEE-LEOS). He is a topical editor for the Journal of the Optical Society of America B and the chairman of the IEEE-LEOS Technical Committee in Nonlinear Optics.
