    09 Oct 2023 | | Contributor(s):: Dragica Vasileska

  2. ABACUS Tool Suite and Bandstructure and Band Models (Fall 2023)

    22 Aug 2023 | | Contributor(s):: Gerhard Klimeck

    In the third session, Dr. Klimeck will give a brief overview of ABACUS and demonstrate several bandstructure tools. With these, students can explore the Standard Periodic Potential aka Kronig-Penney model as well as bandstructure formation by transmission through finite barriers....

  5. Thermal Transport Across Interfaces

    23 Aug 2011 | | Contributor(s):: Timothy S Fisher

    These lectures provide a theoretical development of the transport of thermal energy by conduction in nanomaterials, in which material interfaces typically dominate transport. The physical nature of energy transport by two carriers: electrons and phonons--will be explored.

  6. Lecture 2: General Model for Transport

    28 Jul 2011 | | Contributor(s):: Mark Lundstrom

    Datta's model of a nanodevice is introduced as a general way of describing nanodevices as well, as bulk metals and semiconductors.

  7. OPV: Untangling the Essence of Bulk Heterostructure Organic Solar Cells: Why the Complex Need not be Complicated

    31 Jan 2011 | | Contributor(s):: Muhammad Alam

    This presentation was part of the "Organic Photovoltaics: Experiment and Theory" workshop at the 2010 Users' Meeting of the Molecular Foundry and the National Center for Electron Microscopy, both DOE-funded Research Centers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

  8. ACUTE Exercise: Scattering Rates

    20 Jul 2010 | | Contributor(s):: Dragica Vasileska

    The objective of this exercise is to examine first the non-elasticity of the acoustic phonon scattering. Then non-parabolicity of intervalley scattering is revisited and finally alloy disorder scattering has to be derived.
