udmfit: Fitting tool for developing SPICE level models for circuit simulation

What is udmfit?
The Universal Device Model (UDM) was developed at the University of Virginia as a way to model novel nanoelectronic devices both quickly and accurately. Instead of trying to model particular devices, the UDM approach consists of identifying and modeling the common sub-features for any nanoscale device, and then deriving an arbitrary device model by putting together the various subfeatures. The specific components of the UDM are: linear behavior (resistor-like), thermionic emission (diode equation), resonant tunneling (Gaussian equation) and coulomb staircase (step function) for DC characteristics. Thus, a complete UDM model can include a broad set of these non-classical characteristics.
The tool described on this page, udmfit, is a curve fitting tool that takes the I-V data (either experimental or theoretical) of any two-terminal device and generates a corresponding model to be used for circuit simulation. This tool starts by determining the equations required for the most accurate fit and then refines the model by modifying all parameter values.
