I think that publications should show up in the new resources list, especially if more of our content will become publications.

The New Resources list is a great way to find fresh content.

I also like Joe Cychosz's suggestion to have the highlighted new resources be selected from the pool of recent new resources (perhaps from the preceeding 1 or 2 weeks) rather than being strictly presented by date and time posted.  This will give each new resource a better chance of being  momentarily highlighted.
