Ross Weatherman is currently an assistant professor in the Department
of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue
University in West Lafayette. He received his undergraduate degree
from Wabash College, majoring in chemistry. After graduating from
Wabash, he obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from University of
Wisconsin at Madison where he worked on protein-neoglycopolymer
interactions. He then took a postdoctoral position sponsored by the
California Division of the American Cancer Society at University of
California-San Francisco. At UCSF, he started his current research
into studying the mechanisms of action of selective estrogen receptor
modulators and designing new drugs for the treatment and prevention
of breast cancer. His current research interests include the use of
steroid hormone drugs conjugates to nanoscale vectors to investigate
novel molecular modes of action and possible therapeutic applications
in different types of cancer.
