NCN@Purdue Professional Development Seminar - Dr. Srini Chakravathi

Category: Seminar
Description: Srini Chakravathi, Slater and Matsil, LLP, will give a talk titled "Patent Law: Is it right for you?" Pizza will be served. All NCN@Purdue students are expected to attend. Abstract: To explain what a career in patent law entails, I will address three broad categories: what are patents, what type of jobs exist, and why people move from engineering. Accordingly, I will start with a quick overview of the patent system, including the process of obtaining patents and generating value from patents. Next, I will compare and contrast the different roles of practicing patent professionals. After discussing the qualifications needed for a career in patent law, I will discuss what motivated different people in my firm to start on patent law and its pros and cons. Bio: Dr. Srini Chakravarthi is a Patent Attorney at Slater & Matsil, LLP, a law firm specializing in intellectual property law. Srini’s practice is focused on various aspects of patent law relating to the generation of patents and protection of patent rights for technology companies.
