Overview
CAES/INL C3 Computational Training
CAES/INL C3 Computational Training Group is a collaboration among the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES), the Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Collaborative Computing Center (C3), Boise State University, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and University of Wyoming to develop training in scientific computing, computational modeling, and data science tools.
What is CAES?
The Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) is a research and education consortium among Idaho National Laboratory, Boise State University, Idaho State University, the University of Idaho, and the University of Wyoming. CAES is a public research and education center focused on collaboration that inspires innovation, fueling energy transitions, and economic growth for the future. The center is committed to conducting cutting-edge energy research, educating the next generation of scientists and engineers, and partnering with industry to advance competitiveness.
CAES’ research is focused on nuclear science and engineering, advanced materials science, energy systems design, testing and analysis, bioenergy, carbon management/geofluids energy science, industrial control cybersecurity, and energy policy.
CAES is about the power of partnership – solving technical challenges as a team. Several CAES institutions working together can provide value in a way an individual CAES institution working alone cannot. The CAES collaboration expands the competitiveness and impact of member research and enhances energy-related educational opportunities. CAES research and development involves the collaboration of at least two of its partners.
What is C3?
The Collaborative Computing Center (C3) at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) provides a modern computing environment, hosting research collaborations and opportunities that would otherwise not be possible – a place where INL researchers, Idaho universities, and industry will explore computer modeling and simulation to enable a broad spectrum of scientific research. It's a powerful statement emphasizing the importance of computing in modern science. C3's collaborative space includes places for people to meet, work, and train; a datacenter facility with a "university row" for hosting INL and partner’s computer systems; and its facilitation as a hub for sharing computer code, best practices, and user training in computing.
