Michael Povolotskyi was born in the USSR, Ukraine. He received M.Sc degree from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Russia) in 2000 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" (Italy) in 2004. In 2009 Michael joined Purdue University as a Research Assistant Professor at Discovery Park. In the year of 2017 he was promoted to Research Associate Professor Level and joined the Birck Nanotechnology Center. His scientific interests include computational electronics and photonics, atomistic and continuous media simulations, device research and optimization and development of high performance simulation software, such as nextnano3, TiberCAD, and NEMO5.
