Abstract

Dr. Sorin Adam Matei will discuss his innovative approach to science communication, which focuses on violating expectations and learning. His theory of storytelling is derived form information theory and the psychology of novelty.

Dr. Matei has put to gether a program series of 12 lectures Data Storytelling which expand on the discussion in this presentation.

Bio

Sorin Adam Matei Dr. Sorin Adam Matei is a Professor of Communication and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Education in the College of Liberal Arts. He studies online groups and interactions, which he studies with advanced computational methods. A former journalist, he is passioned about the role of communication in shaping everyday life interactions on or offline.
