James H. Pikul, Mechanical Science and Engineering
James is working on the fabrication and characterization of high power lithium ion microbatteries. High power microbatteries are important for powering micro electronics and MEMS devices. The 3D porous electrodes in the microbatteries decrease the transport resistances of ions and electrons, thus increasing the rate at which the batteries can be charged or discharged. The electrodes are fabricated using self-assembly and electrodeposition.
