BiographyDenise M. Driscoll is the CISTAR Director of Diversity and Inclusion and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. Dr. Driscoll received her B.A. (honors) in 1986 from Indiana University and a Ph.D. (social psychology) in 1992 from the University of Santa Barbara. Dr. Driscoll has held several positions as follows: (1) Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University (1991-9)—teaching and conducting research on stereotyping and intergroup relations; (2) Visiting Scholar, Centre for Research on Group Processes, The University of Queensland (1999; 2013)—studying and engaged in diversity initiatives and mentoring activities; (3) a Diversity Resource Specialist for the Vice President of Human Relations at Purdue University (2000-2007)—advising colleges on diversity initiatives, hosting workshops, assessing diversity climate, and writing/administering grant programs, (4) a Diversity Consultant for her company, Diversity Competency (2007-2014)—working with companies, non-profits, and universities to improve their workplace culture for inclusion, and (5) a Continuous Lecturer in the Krannert School of Business at Purdue University (2014-2019)—teaching MBA students managerial communication, intercultural communication, business writing, and mentoring. Pursuant to her current position, she is responsible for helping CISTAR become a more diverse center where people from all backgrounds are ready to participate and lead in a global energy economy. Specifically, CISTAR works to broaden the participation of groups underrepresented in the petrochemical and fuels industry; to create a welcoming center that supports, values, and rewards all its members to their fullest potential; and, to prepare culturally intelligent, and globally dexterous, engineers.
