Mahbub Islam is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Wayne State University. He completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2016. His Ph.D. research was on interfacial chemistries and material properties of Li-based rechargeable batteries. He developed eReaxFF simulation method to account for explicit electronic degrees of freedom within classical reactive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for describing REDOX reactions. Next, he joined as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Purdue University in 2016, where he worked on molecular level investigation of physics and chemistry of energetic materials under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature. Previously, he completed his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He joined Wayne State in the Fall of 2019 and leads the Atomic-scale Predictive Simulation and Modeling (aPriSM) Lab.
