Mechanical Exfoliation as a Route to Nanomanufacturing of 2D van der Waals Bonded
Online Presentations | 11 May 2020 | Contributor(s):: Daryl Chrzan
In this talk I present a mechanical exfoliation method able to reliably produce large patterned monolayer samples and place them with upon a substrate in desired locations. The method relies on the epitaxial strain imposed upon the layer to be exfoliated by the deposition of a thin metallic film.

Optoelectronic Spintronics and Quantum Photonics in 2D Materials
Online Presentations | 07 Apr 2016 | Contributor(s):: John Schaibley
First, I will discuss the physics and applications of 2D heterostructures composed of stacked monolayers of MoSe_2 and WSe_2 . These heterostructures host interlayer valley excitons where the electrons and holes are located in different layers. These spatially indirect excitons exhibit long...

Calculation of phonon transmission in Si/PtSi heterostructures
Online Presentations | 25 Jan 2016 | Contributor(s):: Jung Hyun Oh, Mincheol Shin
In this work we examine the suppression of phonon transport in another example, Si and SiPt heterostructures (3D). This heterostrucure is believed to have the benefit that the electrical conductance can be kept high while the phonon propagation is suppressed due to the large acoustic impedance...
