How to make precise coating on shape?

Hello, 

I am attempting to make a triangular prism with a 3 nm-thick layer surrounding the shape completely, but I am not sure how to accomplish this with the current Blender file dimensions. Do you have any suggestions on how to find the precise dimensions of this layer in comparison to the object?

    There are a couple ways to measure objects in Blender.

    1) If you press the "N" key, it will open up a side panel. There is a set of values listed within this panel for the dimensions of the object, these dimensions are in nanometers.
