Hej Sheelan! Silicon can be produced at nanoscale as nanoshells (e.g. coating organic molecules), particles (nanocrystals), mesoporous silica (in which the nanoscale is confined to the dimension of pores). These materials have ben exploited in computer science, nanomedicine, biology, and other fields. It is more frequent and perhaps correct to speak about “silica” and not “silicon” nanoparticles, but both spelling are reported in the scientific literature. You can find more by using the PubMed with the query ((silicon OR silica) AND (nanomaterials OR nanoparticles)). Happy search, and best regards. AG
